Although adulthood may seem like a late time to start undergoing orthodontic treatment, many adults seek out remedies for their crooked teeth or painful misaligned jaw issues.
During your first orthodontic visit with Dr. Tanya Vaysman, an initial visual exam will be performed in order to make a preliminary diagnosis. Should an issue in need of treatment be identified, she will then discuss with you a number of different concerns you may have, including:
- Estimated length of treatment
- Financial options for payment
- Foods to avoid during treatment and other important oral care tips
- Treatment options and choices including metal braces, invisible braces and ceramic braces.
- Why treatment may be necessary
One of the most important aspects of your appointment will be determining whether you actually need treatment or not. For some patients, underlying issues may be present that they didn't even know about. Without treatment, these can cause even more serious orthodontic issues in the future that impact overall health and wellness.
During your first appointment, diagnostic records will be taken as well. These will be used to create a treatment plan as well as track your progress along the way. Records consist of two special radiographs, photographs of your teeth, photographs of your face and impressions of your teeth. These records will take about 30 minutes to collect and will be kept on file for each of your subsequent visits.
In addition to our traditional methods for treatment, we also offer the latest oral health advancements including Invisalign and iBraces.
